The one I had on my wishlist was a grand piano – old-fashioned, blue and petite. The one Mr Fluffy Hubby had ordered and arranged to be delivered to our place was an upright piano – spanking shiny new, colourful and bulky. From what I remember, the old-fashioned blue and petite grand piano of my childhood was very easy to play. Its tinkling light keys were part of its charm. The keys of this ultra modern upright piano, however, were much heavier and rather hard to press – some of them didn’t even come back up again after they were pressed. The highest C was flat. And even though it was new, there was a small crack with splintering veins faintly visible in the enamel paintwork on the right corner of its upper lid.
As I ran my fingers up and down its slightly out of tune 2 octaves, I smiled to myself. Watching me from the side, Mr Fluffy Hubby asked, “It’s ok, right?”
Before I could answer, he continued, “You wanted it so much. I thought, there must surely be somebody out there selling it. So I looked around and found this… I know it’s not the same one. But I don’t think anybody sells the old one anymore…” he trailed off.
“It’s…”
Just as I was about to reply, our baby brought her chubby little hands down on her new toy in a banging clanging jangle of loud discords.
She bopped her head happily and grinned, flashing her bunny teeth, then looked up at us cheekily and waited.
We clapped our hands, laughing, and I completed my sentence.
Perfect.

Can’t really remember but think we got it from http://www.mytoys.com.sg . The website seems to be down. Original price is $80. Mine has a surface defect so it was $30 or $35.
